Start of training at VULKAN

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the time had come for nine young professionals to start their training in six different professions at VULKAN. Yesterday, the company welcomed the new trainees at the headquarters in Herne. This year, VULKAN is training two industrial clerks, two cutting machine operators, one mechatronics technician, two warehouse logistics specialists, one IT specialist for application development and, for the first time, a technical product designer.

Management and trainers welcomed the new trainees: "We are very pleased to welcome you on board! The topic of training is important for the qualification of specialists and managers and a key factor for the continued existence of our company in the interest of our customers and employees," said Sebastian Meise, Chief Operations Officer/Chief Technology Officer of VULKAN, in his welcoming speech. "That's why we continuously invest in and develop our training - whether by enlarging the training workshops, modernizing the machinery, introducing new media or expanding the training portfolio," he added.

Getting to know colleagues and the workplace

On the very first day, there was a lot on the agenda for the trainees: After getting to know each other, the photos for the employee ID cards were taken. In addition, the young career starters learned a lot of interesting facts about the history, the organization, the corporate philosophy and the product portfolio of their new employer by means of a company presentation. In addition, they got to know their future workplaces and the working environment during a tour of the plant and the head office. At the end of the first working day, a few organizational things had to be taken care of, such as handing out the training plans, the trainee handbook and the necessary work equipment such as laptops and work clothes, so that they could then start their training right away in the relevant specialist departments. In the first few weeks of training, the new trainees still have a number of important appointments to attend, during which they will receive helpful tips and advice for their day-to-day work and will be able to network with each other as well as with the higher years.

VULKAN trains its own junior staff on a broad basis

As an experienced training company and family-run technology company in Herne, VULKAN offers apprenticeships in a total of eleven different trades. "With this step we secure our future with our own junior staff and train on a broad basis for our own needs," says Katharina Rein, responsible for training and personnel development at VULKAN. The VULKAN trainees receive a varied training and professional and personal support as well as individual promotion by contact persons on site. This also includes targeted further training and exam preparation. In order to make it easier for the new trainees to find their way around in the first few weeks of training, VULKAN has introduced trainee mentors for the first time this training year. The colleagues from the 2nd or 3rd year of apprenticeship are available to the VULKAN newcomers with advice and support.
After successful completion of the apprenticeship and appropriate performance, the graduates have good chances for a future job at VULKAN.

We wish all VULKAN trainees a successful start into their professional life!
